It’s the most wonderful time of year! No…I’m not talking about the holiday season. I’m talking about BOOT season!

Boot season is the one thing that helps me wash away my “end of summer” blues,true religion jeans, because it allows us to spice up our wardrobes by hauling out all of that footwear we’ve been hiding for the past 6 months!

This is my go-to silhouette for fall. Why? Because it is the easiest way to get comfort and style…all in the same look! Or dress it up with some motorcycle boots (my favorite is the Rockport Lily Welt Riding Boot) and a blazer. Either way, your feet are sure to feel great at the end of the day, and you didn’t have to sacrifice a bit of style to get that comfort.

The Foldover Boot

If you’re looking for an update to your classic high-heeled black boot…the foldover boot is definitely it!

This is simply a cosmetic update to the typical high-heeled silhouette, and we’re seeing it everywhere this year. Because it is a surface update, you want to be sure the boots are visible in whatever you are wearing it with. I love to pull the Guess Uproar over some skinny jeans, leggings, or even wear them solo with a skirt or dress.

Moving on to some newer trends…

The Ankle Bootie

I’ve talked to a lot of people who are loving this trend, but they just have no idea how to wear them. I agree…this silhouette can definitely be a tricky one. No matter what I’m wearing or how sh*t my hair looks, a coat of red lippy always seems to turn things around for me. Silk socks and a passionflower.

I have a confession to make.

I am in love with my new socks. And they’re not even socks yet!

I honestly thought I’d be bored by the monotony of knitting every single row, but the self-striping yarn is absolutely fascinating to watch. How wide will my stripes be? Which colour’s coming next? I also thought I’d get cross with faffing about half way through every row, but I’m so relieved not to be wrestling with a set of double-pointed needles that Magic Loop is wondrous by comparison! The yarn is beautiful, the little needles don’t hurt my hands,true religion brand jeans, and I believe I may have found my new vocation. Sock knitting is brilliant.

My knitting friends are turning out to be such a bad influence. Who’d have thought it?

We’ve been talking about socks, and hyperbolic crochet, and lace patterns knitted in aran weight wool, and teasing one another with links to the most beautiful yarns you’ve ever seen.

I have a comparatively small yarn stash, thanks to a comparatively small yarn budget, but I am now fighting a desperate urge to buy ALL THE SOCK YARN. You know, in case there’s a shortage, or something.

I knitted on my sock yesterday while I was waiting at the hospital to have some scans and x-rays done. In the course of two waiting rooms I overheard at least six older ladies talking about how on earth I was knitting a sock on such a peculiar needle, yet not one person came over to ask me about it. Usually people are keen to chat about knitting, especially when they see a strange woman with pink hair doing it. Perhaps it was the look of intense concentration and the toothpick that put them off…
